LA ROCHELLE

Strathpeffer, just 25 minutes north of
Inverness. Built as a traditional hunting
lodge, this family-run hotel has 22
bedrooms, gorgeous gardens, a unique
octagonal dining room, restaurant, bar
and spectacular views. You can enjoy a
game of pitch-and-putt in the grounds,
savour a delicious afternoon tea, or hit the
fairy trail with the kids. Further afield, why
not go dolphin-spotting on a boat trip,
play a round of golf, or explore the local
distilleries – the hotel is also close to the
North Coast 500 route.

Feast on local seafood at quayside
restaurant The Boatyard in Peel and
enjoy some of the best views of the
marina and ancient castle. Perfect for
lunch or a candlelit evening meal, start
off with some Manx crab, fish and ginger
soup, then feast on some Queenies,
the small queen scallops the Isle of Man
is famous for, in a pancake with crispy
bacon lardons and white wine sauce – or
try Locally-smoked Kipper with a Seaweed
Scone. Finish it all off with Fresh Mango
Cheesecake or Poached Pear and Red
White sorbet.

JERSEY
Tamba Park is one of the island’s newest attractions and the perfect choice for a family
day out. Set in beautiful natural scenery, there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained.
The Dino Trail is one of the most popular attractions. Entering the trail through a Dinosaur
mouth, they’ll meet the collection of 16 life-size, animatronic Dinosaurs including the
highly- intelligent Velociraptor, the 30-tonne Brachiosaurus and the king of the Dinosaurs –
Tyrannosaurus Rex. They can also ride and steer an electric police boat, ferry, rescue ship or
destroyer around the boating lake – or have a go on the trampolines, crazy golf, giant chess
and the adventure playground. For animal lovers, there’s the birds of prey centre, and owls,
hens and rabbits to say hello to. Not to mention the African Sculpture Walk full of works made
by Zimbabwean artists to explore. Indoors, the new rainforest-themed soft-play area has a zip
wire to zoom down, a treehouse, a giant ball pit and lots more. A 300-square-metre ice rink is
open on various dates until 13th January. The park is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but
open on bank holiday Mondays and seven days a week during school holidays.
