MÁLAGA
Settle down for a tasty lunch or dinner
at Restaurante Mesón la Cepa in
Calle Strachan, which has been
feeding hungry diners for 20 years and
has plenty of loyal customers. Run by
legendary restaurateur Antonio Agüera
Miranda, it’s a reference point for Málaga
gastronomy, and a magnet for foodies.
Feast on cod cooked in a variety of ways,
fried squid, Russian salad, Iberian hams
and cheeses, broad beans with ham,
sirloin steak, pork shoulder, or their famous,
tender lamb shoulder – all at a reasonable
price. Tapas is a speciality, if you don’t
fancy a full meal.
LONDON SOUTHEND
Take your pick from one of three bars
at the newly-opened Ravens Bar
& Restaurant (over 21s only), in the
former Ravens department store building.
Tuck into breakfast or lunch in the ground-
floor bar, or brunch, lunch, afternoon tea
or dinner in the first-floor restaurant. The
menu ranges from Eggs Benedict with
a Toasted Muffin, Ham and Hollandaise
Sauce, and Moules Mariniere with French
Fries o the likes of Roast Cod, Pork Belly or
Miso-Glazed Duck.
LUXEMBOURG
If you like a view and have a head
for heights, then don’t miss a trip
on the city’s new architectural
landmark – the award-winning, beautiful,
glass Pfaffenthal lift. It took six years in
the making and is unique, designed
especially for its location. Free to use,
the lift connects the Pescatore park in
the city centre to the Pfaffenthal area at
the bottom of the Alzette valley. Open
to both pedestrians and cyclists, it allows
passengers to enjoy panoramic views
over the picturesque city 71 metres below.
Note, it closes every first Monday of the
month for maintenance, reopening the
following day at 6am.
LYON
See the world on a smaller scale at
Mini World Lyon, France’s largest
miniature park. Covering over 3,000
square metres, it consists of four different
worlds (town, country, mountains and,
new for this year, Mini Lyon) and is full
of amusing details, famous characters
and clever references to cartoons and
movies. In the mountains, for instance,
there’s snow, cable cars, skiers, and
even a Christmas market. Special lighting
recreates different times of the day and
night, and there are plenty of interactive

MANCHESTER
One Man Bond: Every Bond Film In 60 Minutes at the Dancehouse Studios on 24th
November is written by, and stars, Brian Gorman as over 200 characters, including every
James Bond from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig, M, Moneypenny, Q, as well as the
infamous villains Dr No, Goldfinger, Blofeld, Mr Big, Scaramanga, Jaws, and Raul Silva. It’s a
whirlwind tour of every cinematic adventure of the world’s favourite secret agent. This unique
production features a single actor, without elaborate props, costumes or special effects, and
takes the audience from the groovy, psychedelic Sixties of the super-smooth Sean Connery,
through to the modern-day bone-crunching and ultra-realistic Daniel Craig. Manchester-
based Brian Gorman is a life-long Bond fan, having read all the Ian Fleming novels as a child
in the 1970s, and seeing every movie dozens of times. He also wrote, and co-produced, the
highly-acclaimed stage play, New Dawn Fades: A Play About Joy Division & Manchester,
which has toured nationally for five years to standing ovations.
