ABERDEEN

The award-winning, family-run Ashvale fish and chip shop on Great Western Road has

been serving the people of the North East for over 30 years. Their concept is simple: buy

the very best of produce and deliver the perfect fish supper. Most of their fish comes

straight from Peterhead Market and they use local suppliers where possible. The menu

includes delights such as Fisherman’s Feast (a platter of haddock, cod, sole, rock turbot,

scampi and salmon) and the Ashvale Whale, a one-pound haddock fillet that comes with

a challenge. Finish it and you get a second on the house, or a free dessert. Although fish is

their speciality (they make a mean Smoked Chowder served with hot bread), they also serve

a variety of grilled steaks, burgers and chicken dishes, plus salads and vegetarian dishes.

Desserts are traditional and include Sticky Toffee Pudding, Caramel Apple Pie, Knickerbocker

Glory, Banana Split, Chocolate Fudge Cake and Millionaire Cheesecake. There’s also a

gluten-free menu and free meals for under-fives. The restaurant is even open on Christmas

Day, serving traditional treats including turkey and roast rib of beef, along with jumbo

battered haddock and scampi.

and the beautiful terrace ensures that

you can enjoy a snack or extensive dinner

in comfort both summer and winter. The
