Our 2019-20 Winter schedule from

Cardiff Airport features eight key

routes with a choice of up to 120

flights a week, including extra

services to some of our most

popular destinations. There are

increased flights between Cardiff

and Dublin (up to 38 flights a

week); Edinburgh (up to 36 flights

a week) and Paris Charles de

Gaulle (up to 16 flights a week).

This means extra frequencies and

more choice for those leisure

and business customers across

Wales seeking to travel within the

UK and to Ireland and France, or

connect onwards to the world via

the French and Irish hub airports.

Extra flights have also been

added to Belfast City and

International Air Transport Association’s

(IATA) first-ever Inspirational Role Model

Award. It is the most prominent of three

categories featured in the organisation’s

inaugural Diversity & Inclusion Awards

which, sponsored by Qatar Airways,

attracted 68 nominations.

In thanking IATA and the sponsors for

their insight in proactively progressing the

agenda relating to diversity and inclusion,

Ms Ourmières-Widener said: “Although

significant strides have been made towards

addressing the issue of gender imbalance

The release of its Cardiff Winter

schedule is a positive reflection of

continue to operate as will regular

flights to Cork, Jersey and ski

flights to Geneva and Chambéry.

These services are fundamental to

ensuring travellers can travel into

and out of Cardiff as a gateway

to the region, whether it is for

business, leisure or education.”

Our franchise partner, Eastern

Airways, will operate regular

flights to Anglesey, Newcastle and

Aberdeen as part of its Winter

schedule.

Widener was presented with its inaugural Diversity

ALL PEANUTS AND NUT- BASED PRODUCTS

NOW REMOVED FROM FLIGHTS

As of 1st July, no peanuts or nut-based products are

being carried on board our own-operated flights, in a

move to safeguard passengers with a severe allergy.

Although the jury remains out whilst awaiting more

definitive medical research on the extent of the issue,

we have decided to err on the side of caution in the

interests of passenger safety.

Roy Kinnear, Chief Commercial Officer, explains:

“Passenger safety is our number one priority, and this

extends across all aspects of our own operation. That

is why we take the issue of nut allergies extremely

seriously and have now removed all peanuts and nut-

based products from our on-board Café Flybe menu.

“We will also, of course, continue to take the

existing preventative measures we have had in place

for many years. Nevertheless, despite all the measures

we might take it should be stressed that no public

environment can ever be guaranteed to be one

hundred per cent nut-free.”

Any passenger with a food-related allergy

is advised to always check product labels and

packaging for specific ingredient information.

sector remains very male-dominated. I’d

like to see more women at all levels – as

pilots, in operations and engineering, and

in management roles. There needs to be a

clear push to get women to study science,

technology, engineering and mathematics

from an early age. Young women cannot

be what they cannot see.”

Christine is using the US$25,000 prize

to create a scholarship at Cranfield

University to be awarded to a female

student pursuing a Master of Science

degree in air transport management,

together with ongoing personal mentorship.
