L IMOGES
The Musée des Beaux Arts is housed in
the beautifully-restored, 18th-century
Bishops’ Palace. It covers the town’s
history through Roman artefacts, and has
a collection of Egyptian antiquities and
medieval treasures. There is an excellent
fine-arts collection with paintings from the
Renaissance to some of the most famous
20th-century painters like Renoir and
Valadon. In addition, there is a collection
of etchings and drawings as well as
modern and contemporary sculptures.
The upper storey displays Limoges enamel
from the 12th century to modern day and
is the pride of the museum.
