Our CEO Christine Ourmières-Widener
has been appointed to the International
Air Transport Association (IATA) Board of
Governors. She is one of only two women
on the 31-member body which heads
the influential trade association that
represents some 290 airlines, equating to
82 per cent of the world’s total air traffic.
As such, IATA’s role is critical in supporting
many areas of aviation activity, helping
to formulate industry policy on critical
aviation issues.
Ms Ourmières-Widener has long taken
an active personal and professional
interest in industry matters and is a
former Vice-President and current Board
member at the European Regions Airline
Association (ERA), an organisation
that works closely with IATA through its
European Industry Affairs Committee.
Following her appointment, she said:
“I am delighted and honoured to have
been elected and look forward with
great enthusiasm to contributing to the
important work that IATA does for the
industry. I am, of course, also passionate
about diversity and so am privileged to
bring this dimension to the Board.”
Christine’s career in the industry spans
30 years. She started as an engineer in Air
France in 1988 before progressing in the
company to become the airline’s UK and
Ireland General Manager and ultimately a
Vice President based in New York.
After leaving Air France, she was
appointed Chief Executive of CityJet ,
going on to become Chief Global Sales
Officer for American Express Global
Business Travel.
Christine was appointed CEO of Flybe
in January 2017 and remains one of the
few female airline CEOs in the industry.
She is a huge advocate for encouraging
women to work in science, technology,
engineering and mathematics (STEM)
roles as well as senior corporate roles.

The range includes more than 300 new
cancer care products that patients
can use to create their own bespoke
hospital kits, or that can be purchased
as gifts by friends and family who’d like
to buy safe, comforting or practical
items that show how much they care.
Julie Byard, head of trading at
Cancer Research UK, said: “Whether
you need a travel bag for a hospital
visit, or sensitive shampoo, we hope
to become a one-stop shop to
help people with the side-effects of
treatment.
“From items such as headscarves
and mastectomy swimwear that you’d
perhaps expect, to lifestyle products
such as wireless headphones and
beanbags that can hold your tablet
in bed or on the sofa – we hope these
helpful little things will make a real
difference for patients.”
People who need support after
surgery can find mastectomy bras,
specially designed heart-shaped
cushions and seatbelt protectors.
Chemotherapy and radiation can
affect your skin, hair and nails, so the
range also features sensitive shampoo,
moisturisers and nail varnish.
As well as making helpful little gifts
for a friend or relative with cancer,
all profits go towards helping to beat
cancer sooner. For more information or
