here is the place that most inspires you? Perhaps it’s where

you grew up, or somewhere you’ve visited and felt a real

connection with? It’s a subject that’s very relevant to this issue

as we look at some of the best literary locations (p26) – places

that have inspired great works of literature, or have been home to the authors

that penned them.

There’s something fascinating about imagining yourself back in the scene

where a book you really enjoyed was created, and seeing the surroundings

that may have had an impact on the author’s life. There’s also inspiration to be

drawn from the cases where authors overcame hardship to create something

special. Plus, coming from Stratford-upon-Avon, I’m well aware that you can

often find a nice literary-themed cafe or pub in these places, too, if you’re

looking for a cuppa and a sit-down.

Of course, Flybe’s network includes many inspirational places – a few we’ve

covered in this issue are the Calderdale area of Yorkshire (p42), also known

as the setting for TV’s

Happy Valley

; the city and surrounding countryside

of Edinburgh (p49) and some of the sights to be seen in Sussex (p59) and

Hannover (p63). We also talk to the man who fell in love with Cornwall and was

inspired enough to move there and set up a brewery (p73), and the Australian

comedian whose initial impressions of London weren’t hugely inspirational, until

he realised there were some fascinating aardvarks in the zoo (p16).

In our ‘Inspiration Time’ pages this month we have a park manager from

Cardiff, a music agent from London and a member of the River Cottage

team in East Devon all sharing their favourite places with us. If you live in,

or enjoy travelling to, somewhere that you think other readers might like to

know more about, why not get in touch? Send an email to emily.gravenor@

streampublishing.net

and you could soon be featuring in a future issue.

For now, though, as you’re hopefully on your way somewhere very

inspirational, it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy your flight – and your copy

of

Flight Time
