Barge Aground
The iconic Barge Aground is
uniquely positioned amongst the
dunes in Jersey’s only national
park in stunning St Ouen’s Bay,
with direct access to the beach.
Accommodating six people, the
décor has a 1930s theme, with
walnut floors and some original
1930s furniture. Two adult twin
bunkrooms are located in the
‘stern’ of the property while the
kitchen and bathroom adjoin the
large lounge and diner. There is
a comfortable double sofa bed
in the ‘prow’, which sleeps two.
Double doors open onto a large
Fort Leicester
Spread over three levels, this
magnificent 19th-century fort sits
above the picturesque harbour of
Bouley Bay. Dating back to the
16th century and rebuilt in 1836,
the guardhouse has been converted
into the main bedroom, while the
lower-level magazines have been
transformed into a cosy bunk
room and a bathroom. One of Fort
Leicester’s most quirky features
is that it is built into the rock face
on three different levels, so guests
have to move outside from one
room to another, with sections
of grass between. The searchlight
housing is now a fitted kitchen
with a lounge and diner.
There is also a terrace area
where a gun emplacement
once stood, which is perfect for
watching the boats sail in and out
of the harbour.
