FACTS ABOUT THE FLYBE AIRCRAFT – AND YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

WHAT IS A FRANCHISE?

Not on one of the aircraft above? You’ll be travelling with one of our franchise partners. A franchise is where another

operator is allowed to fly their planes under the Flybe brand, with our agreement. Your journey should look and feel

like any other Flybe flight. Although technically a different company is operating it, these franchise airlines closely

follow our customer service and brand guidelines, so you enjoy a very similar experience.

Why are all the passengers

seated in one section of the

aeroplane and not spread out?

Sometimes referred to as

“weight and balance” or

“trim”, the weight in an

aircraft must be spread in

accordance with strict limits

set by the manufacturer of the

aeroplane. The distribution

of passenger seating can

change on each flight

depending on the total

number of passengers, amount

of fuel or number of cabin

bags in the hold. Although

seat allocation is generally

processed automatically when

you check in, it might be why

the crew occasionally ask you

to move seat – this will be at

the request of the Captain and

may be because of some

last-minute changes (for

example, extra fuel or bags)

that require a small change

to the seating plan.

Do both pilots fly the

aeroplane?

Yes. Although the Captain

is responsible for the overall

safety and operation of the

aeroplane, either the First

Officer or the Captain can

fly the aeroplane. You can’t

always blame a “firm” landing

on the Captain!

How do I become a pilot?

of information there on the

schemes we run with Flight

Training Organisations who

are training our future pilots
