News and events from around the Flybe destinations, including the chance to win a luxury break
in Jersey, medieval mayhem in Evesham and a feast of planes and cars...
BIRMINGHAM
Visitors can step back to the 13th century
when the Battle of Evesham is re-enacted
on the 4th and 5th August, along with a
mediaeval festival and camp.
The battle itself was fought on 4th August
1265, between the forces of Prince Edward
and Simon de Montfort, and the action-
packed weekend will include hundreds
of re-enactors fighting ‘to the death’ on
both days. The Battle of Evesham Grand
Parade, with mounted knights in full armour,
will wind its way through the town on the
Saturday. On Evesham’s Crown Meadow,
visitors can watch medieval musicians
and dancing at the camp, along with craft
demonstrations and medieval cookery.
Displays of 13th-century medicine, weapon
demonstrations and the chance to see
a mini Trebuchet in action will educate
and intrigue the whole family. Next to the
camp there will be falconry and equestrian
displays, treasure trails and children’s
activities. Various stalls will be selling a
range of dishes and snacks, and there will
be a licensed bar.
