FLYBE TIME
A TO FLYBE
The latest news from the world of Flybe, including the three-millionth passenger on our Belfast to
Manchester route, engineering success in the US – and a strange coincidence!
Nineteen-year-old James Forte, a
computer science student from Northern
Ireland, was the three-millionth passenger
on our Belfast to Manchester service
recently. He received VIP treatment for
his milestone journey back to university
in Chester.
Ken Harrower, Country Manager,
explained, “Reaching three million
passengers on this route is a significant
point in the development of the service,
which now features up to seven flights a
day. It has been a very popular route since
day one, but even more so now that
Manchester has become a key hub offering
onward connections to destinations across
the world. We were delighted to welcome
James on board who, as a university
student, represents a sizeable proportion of
our commuting customers. He also
benefits from a special double baggage
allowance which is available to all students
carrying a current student card. We wish
James well in his future studies and look
forward to flying him to Manchester many
more times as he completes his degree.”
To mark the occasion, James was given
a Flybe purple carpet experience including
limousine transport to the airport, fast-
track security, relaxation in the business
lounge, a trumpet fanfare and guard of
honour as he boarded the aircraft, with
complimentary food and drinks all the way
to Manchester. He also has two return
flights to anywhere on our UK network to
look forward to.
You can watch James’ VIP journey on
our YouTube channel.

When Aylesbury resident Graham Ecob
spotted a Bombardier Q400 aircraft with his
own name reflected in its registration, he
determined to one day take a flight on it…
and his dream came true when we organised
a flight for him between Heathrow and
Edinburgh on that very aircraft.
Before Graham took to the skies, he said:
“I did a double take when I first spotted the
registration. It made me laugh so I wrote to
Flybe with a photo and a copy of my
identification.
“I was delighted that this coincidence led
to such a lovely opportunity – and I spent
my day in Edinburgh catching up with an
old friend.”
Roy Kinnear, Chief Commercial Officer,
said: “We’re thrilled that Graham contacted
us and we, too, thought this a truly bizarre
coincidence – one that also makes our
aircraft pretty special. I imagine it’s not
every day you discover there’s a plane with
your name!”
What’s in a
name?
Plenty, if it matches
the registration
of one of our
Bombardier Q400s
