JUNE

PURPLE TIME

Find out about the people behind the scenes at Flybe

Name:

Graham Cottee

Job title:

Senior Digital

Marketing Executive

MEET THE TEAM

How long have you been working

for Flybe and what attracted you to

your role?

I have been with Flybe for 11-and-a-half

years. I started off as Cabin Crew and have

been lucky enough to have experienced

working in several departments such as

customer services, ground operations

training and eventually the marketing and

e-commerce teams. I was following in my

grandfather’s footsteps – he was a Chief

Steward on Concorde, and my love of

travel has kept me here ever since.

What does your day-to-day job

involve?

There are some exciting developments

happening at Flybe right now so a big

part of my day-to-day is helping to shape

the future of how we communicate

to our customers. Generally, I am

responsible for the management of

email marketing but we are a close team

and support each other in all areas of

marketing and e-commerce.

What do you enjoy most about your

job?

I am continually learning. My brain is

constantly being challenged and I get to

be part of some exciting projects. Most

of all, I love the people that I work with,

the support that we get from each other

and the fact that there is never a dull

moment between us.

What’s the most memorable thing

that’s happened to you at work?

Travelling around regional France on

a three-week trip training the ground

agents on the reservation system. I

managed to get to see parts of France

that I would never consider as a holiday

destination, but would now return to.

Also, as a result of working closely with

the locals, I discovered some amazing

hidden places to eat, with food to die for!

What three words would your

friends use to describe you?

Energetic, easily distracted, obsessed

with my dog (his Instagram is

@alfiedoodledog).

What do you enjoy doing when

you’re not at work?

Spending time with my other half, friends

and family (and the dog). I have recently

got back into running and being a bit more

creative in the kitchen to complement it. I

love learning new things and I’m currently

teaching myself to play the piano.

Where’s your favourite Flybe

destination and why?

It’s got to be Amsterdam! It’s so easy

to get to from Exeter and there is so

much to do in a relatively-small city. The

people are great and the city itself is

stunning.

What would you recommend doing

or seeing there?

Generally, I love walking around the city

or sitting in a nice restaurant watching

the world go by. However, I do love

the water so eating out on a canal trip

gives you the chance to see the city in

one evening with some great food and

atmosphere.

As a child, you wanted to be…?

Originally I wanted to be a movie

director after watching

Jurassic Park

as

an eight-year-old! However, being easily

distracted I didn’t quite make it! Luckily,

travel is something that was always top

of the list.

What’s one thing people are most

surprised to discover about you?

I was once in

The Sun

newspaper as

a character in Dear Deidre’s Photo

casebook.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

My geeky taste in TV and films, from

Doctor Who

to

Harry Potter

– anything

that mixes reality with fantasy.
