Week, we will

which starts in

Welcome on board.

We are close to celebrating our first successful year at London Heathrow with

flights from Edinburgh and Aberdeen. So, in such a short time, we are very

proud to have been recognised as the best-performing carrier there in the

latest ‘Fly Quiet and Green’ league table. In this quarterly report, the airport

ranks noise and emissions performance across a number of critical metrics.

It is a position we are proud to have achieved by coming out ahead of some

of the biggest and best airlines in the world.

Marking another milestone, we recently celebrated the sixth anniversary of

our Manchester Airport hub which launched in 2012. This has proved a very

successful concept. It has become increasingly popular with our passengers

who enjoy the convenience of being able to connect on to another Flybe

flight – or on to one operated by our many global codeshare partners –

having only had to check in once at their airport of original departure. So for

example, if you want to travel from Southampton to Aberdeen, Flybe can

offer the choice of up to four connecting flights a day via Manchester – with

a total point-to-point travel time of just three hours! There are also many

other options with our international codeshare partners. For instance, our

Scotland customers can now fly from Glasgow via Manchester and onward

to seven long-haul destinations with Virgin Atlantic.

The commercial aviation sector is an extremely complex one that offers a

wealth of diverse career opportunities. I started my career as an engineer

working on Concorde and over the years have worked my way up through the

ranks in many roles throughout the industry. This is why I am particularly

excited that, during National Apprenticeship Week this month, we will be

launching Flybe’s brand new four-year Engineering Apprenticeship

programme which starts in September. This Diploma programme will be

conducted in Exeter at our own Training Academy apprentice workshops and

internationally-renowned maintenance facility in partnership with a local

college. We look forward to receiving lots of applications.

It remains for me to say thank you for choosing to fly with us today, and we

look forward to welcoming you on board again soon.
