Blissful log cabins in the Cotswolds

offer the perfect break

Really get away from it all at one of Log

House Holidays’ luxury homes set in a

130-acre nature reserve in the Cotswolds.

Offering just eight Scandinavian one-of-

a-kind log homes ranging from four that

sleep four people up to one that sleeps 11,

the homes are authentically sourced from

Finland and eco-friendly. Each has unspoilt

lake views, an outdoor fire pit and decking

area, private beach, a hot tub for all seasons,

private pier and even your own rowing boat.

This very special family-run reserve promises

total seclusion from the rest of the world.

Inside, each house has been individually

furnished with antique furniture and modern

appliances, plus a cosy wood-burning stove.

Luxury comforts include underfloor heating,

Egyptian cotton bed linen and fluffy towels.

The stylish kitchen is fully equipped with

everything you need for a self-catering break.

Bathrooms with big powerful showers and

roll-top baths add that final luxury touch and

out on the lakeside decking, there’s traditional

Finnish furniture, an outdoor fire pit and that

lake-view hot tub.

Our favourite is Mayo Landing, which

sleeps 11 and is set on a little island with its

own heated swimming pool and sauna.

There’s a 2.5-mile circular landscaped track

around the edge of the lake and through

secret woodland, and you can fish for pike,

perch, tench and roach in the lake.

Whether you're one man and his dog (the

lodges are all dog-friendly), a couple looking

for a romantic getaway, a family celebrating

a special occasion or a group on holiday, you

are guaranteed a memorable time.

Stay safe when you travel with this app-based security service

Imagine taking a virtual bodyguard with you

on any trip – one that can warn you of danger

and whisk you home safely with a single

phone call should the worst occur. That’s the

premise of a new, app-based travel service, by

Drum Cussac, a security firm with more than

15 years’ experience in corporate travel and

The service combines state-of-the-art

tracking and monitoring technology with

world-class security knowledge and expertise

provided by an extensive network of former

police, military, security officers, intelligence

analysts and tech specialists. It has the

capability to provide members with 24/7

VIP-level protection, wherever they are in the

world, all at the touch of a button.

The service is accessed through the

CloseCircle app and online dashboard, which

offers 24/7 security monitoring, incident

alerting, travel advice, and an emergency

evacuation service in volatile situations.

The online portal also enables members to

locate and track family who are signed up to

the service.

CloseCircle’s Global Operations Centre

monitors each member’s location with

real-time tracking, allowing them to know

whether they’re in a hotel in Paris, a beach in

Hawaii, or at a desk in London. The service

cross-references each members’ location

with world events to determine their safety.

If any member is caught within the zone of

an incident, CloseCircle’s team of security

experts will proactively contact them to let

them know about the situation, check that

they are okay, and give them advice on staying

safe. In situations where there is an ongoing

threat, CloseCircle will evacuate members to

a place of safety at no extra cost.

Should a member find themselves in an

emergency situation, they simply press

the ‘SOS’ button from the app which

automatically alerts the CloseCircle team.

Security experts will then make immediate

contact and begin the emergency response

procedure. The service provides instant

assistance for anyone at risk, and reassurance

for those at home following their loved ones

via the app.

CloseCircle’s app has been specifically

designed to operate using minimal battery

power and works effectively when on low

power, even below 10 per cent. The app uses

only three per cent of battery over a 24-hour

period, meaning you are in safe hands for a

longer period of time.

“There are all kinds of services already

being provided by emergency units, travel

agents, and even credit card companies, but

we are offering an extra level of personal

protection that we feel people need in today’s

increasingly-uncertain times,” explains Simon

Philips, Managing Partner of CloseCircle.

Annual membership is £195 for an

individual, £349 for a couple, and £595 for a

family of up to six people.
