Happy New Year!
Welcome to the first
With the festive season now behind us, this is
the time where we all start to look to the coming
year and what it may bring, be it in our personal
or business lives. Here at CityJet, we are certainly
looking forward to a busy year as we continue to
consolidate and build our airline.
In 2016, we increased employment at CityJet by
over 50 per cent, brought our fleet from 18 to 26
aircraft – including buying our ever-first brand-
new aircraft – and expanded our business scope to
include major operations in the Nordic region and
charter services throughout Europe.
2017 will see a continuation of our fleet growth,
with nine more aircraft scheduled for delivery to us
by July – four Bombardier CRJ900s, which we will
use on our wet lease contract for SAS (Scandinavian
Airlines) from the end of March, and five more
Superjet SSJ100s, which will be used on further wet
lease services for other airlines and growth in our
scheduled and charter businesses.
We are also planning to grow our leisure services
this year, with our Toulon-London City and
Avignon-London City routes running for a longer
season, with increased frequency on both. Avignon
is a fabulous town to visit and a great gateway to the
Provence and Vaucluse regions, whilst Toulon opens
up the fantastic resorts along the Côte d'Azur and is,
of course, home to RC Toulon, one of France’s top
rugby teams. ese two fantastic destinations in the
south of France are well worth a visit, be it a short
break or longer getaway.
With the January sales now in full swing, many
bargain-hunting CityJet customers during this
period travel home with a lot more baggage than the
outward journey. is is not a problem with CityJet’s
free baggage allowance, so enjoy your trip and shop
’til you drop!
As you will see later in this issue, our annual
“Santa Flight”, in support of Temple Street Children’s
University Hospital in Dublin, took place on 7th
December and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the
children on board. e 45-minute flight had a
special visit from Santa, and all were treated to
an amazing party in Dublin Airport upon their
return. My sincere thanks go to all involved in this
event, including St. Peter’s Male Voice Choir from
Drogheda, the girls from Loreto College, Balbriggan,
who led the singing on board, and the many suppliers
and partners who assisted, including Dublin Airport
Authority, Dublin Airport Police & Fire Service, Sky
Handling Partner, Gate Gourmet, Shell Aviation and,
of course, all the CityJet staff involved.
