VELOCITY

VOYAGE

Take Off

December

T R END I NG

Se c r e t War s

Musée de l’Armée in

Paris have navigated

the tricky waters of

producing a new

exhibition on that most

secretive of industries – the intelligence service. But they’ve

delved deep to put together a collection of over 400 objects,

many never seen before, that expose the roles of secret agents,

their gadgets, and the history of waging war from the shadows.

Naturally, James Bond gets a mention (and there are artefacts

such as a poison-tipped umbrella and a bowler hat hiding a

pistol to marvel at), but spy clichés are only used to help visitors

understand that fact is often stranger than fiction as they explore

the fascinating, clandestine world of the spy. Until 29th January.

T E A AT T HE V&A

Sunday afternoon in the Victoria & Albert Museum’s

lavish Morris Room is fast becoming one of the hottest

dining tickets in town. Award-wining food historian

Tasha Marks and food experts Benugo have put together

a decadent afternoon spread that takes guests back in

time with some delicious historical delicacies. e 19th-

century recipes have been subtly tweaked for modern

tastebuds, but don’t worry, there are still cucumber

sandwiches (and a glass of Prosecco if you’re feeling

cheeky).
